Differences and similarities in the media of participating countries

As a part of our program we talked about and discussed the similarities and differences of media in the participating countries (Greece, Estonia, Hungary and Germany). We noticed that there are more differences than we have expected.

Considering the TV-programmes

For example in Greece they show the same Greek shows and movies over and over because they have no money to produce new ones due to the economic crisis. Furthermore, people in Greece do not have trust towards TV-shows and channels. Which as well might be the consequence of the economic crash. Other than that TV-programmes are quite similar to the ones in the other countries with Western TV shows, TV series and cinematography dominating the program.

In Hungary, TV is heavily influenced by the political side and often report for or against the government. This also means that subjectivity is present at some level.

As for Germany, TV-program contains a lot of satire-shows and comedy.

About social media

Nowadays, in every participating country, more and more youngsters use social media to get the information. Those media sources are mainly Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Youtube. The majority of Hungarian, Estonian and Greek youth also use Viber and Facebook massenger, however it is not true for Germans, who prefer chatting via Whatsapp.

Considering such popularity of social media, conclusion can be made apart from the differences and similarities that social media has a huge influence on modern society, especially on younger generation.
